The purpose of these groups is to give students and teachers a chance to interact with each other on a more personal level, and to get to know a variety of different individuals in the school. Activities and issues will be based on the school year’s theme, “If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” (Romans 14:8) During the normal activity period time for the first nine weeks of the school year, and periodically after that, groups will meet to get to know each other, learn about practical ways to make it through high school, and study the Max Lucado book Facing Your Giants (Teen Version). SNL Family groups will be mixed-age groups, consisting of freshman through seniors. If anyone has any questions about SNL groups, you can contact Mrs. Styf, Miss Wagner, Mr. Brandt, Mrs. Brock, Pastor Armao, Mrs. Williamson, or Mrs. Riggins. back to top You can be part of helping the Finchum family travel to Beijing, China to watch their son Thomas (LHSI 2008) compete for the USA Olympic Diving Team in the Men’s Synchronized Diving Finals and Individual Men’s Diving Competition. or 787-5474 ext. 118). back to top Alumni News: Jared Broughton (2008) played for the Indiana Bulls, National Champions of Premier Baseball. Premier Baseball is a national organization that brings the best baseball teams from across the country to compete for a National Championship. The Indiana Bulls won the national title, beating teams from Nebraska, Louisiana, Ohio, Ontario, Kansas, and two teams from Texas along the way to their national title game against the Dallas Mustangs. In eight games, Jared batted .475 with two home runs and bunted a game winning base runner to home to win the national semi-final game 3-2 over Austin Texas.
The tourney marks the end of Jared's baseball career with the Indiana Bulls, Indiana's premier summer travel baseball team, after joining the team in 2002 at the age of 13. Jared, Brad Hook from Franklin High School, and Sean Collins from Pendleton Heights are the only three players who succeeded in making the team all six years. The Bulls conduct tryouts each year and only these three survived the cuts each of the past six years. Jared Broughton (below, left) also recently signed scholarship papers for baseball to attend Vincennes University. Jared plans on being at Vincennes for a year and re-opening the recruiting process to transfer to a Division One university for baseball. Jared would then have three years of eligibility at that school. We congratulate Jared for his accomplishments at Lutheran High School and wish him good luck at Vincennes. Sarah Groth (2004; above, right), a recent graduate of Ball State will be serving for a year with Youth Encounter Ministry.
