There was the day the kiln exploded with sparks at the end of art class.  Teacher Mr. Brandt was understandably concerned; first, it could have caused a damaging fire; second, how was he going to finish baking the student's ceramic projects in time for the end of the semester.

As administrators scurried for options, the news was shared via the weekly e-newsletter.  The next day, a call was received from a Lutheran alum that they wanted to help purchase a new kiln. 

Praise to the Lord!  The projects were finished on time and there is a modern, safe kiln on the job, replacing a 20-year-old model.

• Include Lutheran High School in your will:  I give (__%) ($___) of my estate to the Greater Indianapolis Association for Lutheran Secondary Education, Inc., 5555 S Arlington Ave, Indianapolis, IN  46237; to provide funding (for the purpose of ____) (for the programs as determined by the Board of Directors.)
  
• Give an appreciated asset, like stock or a mutual fund, directly to the school.  We will sell the stock immediately and benefit from the gift.  Your gift of appreciated stock saves you capital gains and provides a charitable tax deduction.  Email the Development office for instructions on how to give stock or a mutual fund.  For more information about giving an appreciated asset, please click here.
  
• Purchase a Charitable Gift Annuity-These financial instruments pay you for the rest of your life at a competitive rate of interest plus give you a charitable deduction when the investment is made.  At your death, the balance goes to your favorite ministry.
  
• Change or include Lutheran as a beneficiary on your life insurance, annuity, certificate of deposit, or other investment so that either the whole amount or a percentage can go directly to ministry and bypass probate.
  
• Purchase a life insurance policy and immediately give ownership to the school.  This allows you to leverage a relatively small amount of money into a larger gift.  By giving the policy to Lutheran High School, your premiums are paid as donations to the school (and are tax deductible) that the school uses to pay the insurance company.
  
• Talk to your estate planning advisors (attorney, accountant, and insurance representative) about other ways that you might transfer the blessings the Lord has given you to your children and the ministries close to your heart.
