Saints Notes    January 7, 2010

It's snowing outside, and it's as if the world is about slide off its axis, careening into careless drivers from Jupiter and Mars.

Since moving to Indiana four years ago, I've learned that Hoosiers and snow just don't mix very well.  Two weeks into my time at Lutheran High School, early December 2005 - it was snowing pretty hard and an office person told me I needed to go right then because the roads would become impassable.  90 minutes later, I had completed what was usually a 30 minute trip and successfully contended with drivers who apparently have never experienced snow or the slipperiness that accompanies it.

Coming from Wisconsin, where snow is enjoyed and welcomed - this offered a great opportunity for observational humor about the native population.

A couple flakes in the forecast?  It must mean it's time for 'White Death Watch' on channel 6, 8, 13, or 59.

It's also a signal to Hoosiers everywhere to eat french toast.

Why else would everyone go to the grocery store to purchase milk, eggs, and bread?

Drive carefully - clean off all your car windows - and while you are reading this blog, enjoy a cup of Hot Chocolate.

Also, let the snow remind you of our salvation:  "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.    Isaiah 1:18
